A Christmas Gathering is an annual event for the Women’s Ministry at The Church at BattleCreek. This year’s theme was “Taking Time for Christmas,” emphasizing that it is easy to get involved in a lot of activity surrounding Christmas, but miss Christmas in all the fuss. Slow down, and enjoy the wonder of the season of celebrating Jesus’ birth.

I started with several different styles of designs, until a final style was settled on. Here are my samples (click to see larger size):

This is a Wordpress based website, which I redesigned with a lot of new features that the Oral Roberts Ministries site lacked. They wanted a new layout, and a much cleaner, easier to navigate website layout. I added breadcrumbs and category lists for easy navigation, as well as upgrading their video player, among other notable changes.

One added feature was the top menu, hidden until the menu button was clicked, allows for easy navigation without cluttering up the page design.

There was an older brochure design which provided a lot of the copy for this product, but I went in a totally new direction for this design. I created a brochure that appealed to a wide audience range yet remained modern, relevant, and professional.

The slides needed to be eye-catching, appealing, and informative. Since the slides would stand alone as a form of event announcement, it is important that each slide communicates enough information. It is also important not to overwhelm the viewer with too much, as each slide will only display for a short amount of time.

The card doubles as a head shot, so it was vital to highlight the photo as the most important element in the business card. The photograph was also taken by Meira Design.

The Smoldering Wick Ministries logo was created around the idea of an ancient oil lamp and the smoke that rises from the wick. The ministry’s focus is to encourage and strengthen burned-out ministry leaders, who are like smoldering candles. In that, the ministry helps to re-light the candles in these pastor’s hearts and lives.

The letterhead was designed to be eye-catching and simple. The addition of Smoldering Wick Ministries’ key bible verse is a beautiful finishing touch.

The look and usability of the Smoldering Wick Ministries website needed to be improved. Previously, the client had been uploading web pages manually, and updating the menus on each page. I redesigned the site using WordPress, to make uploading new articles and information easy. Every article can now be easily found, and there is no need for the ministry to have to play with the HTML code in order to make updates. Everything is simple and user friendly.

I also added a forum section to the ministry site, allowing for a dialog to take place between the ministry and the people that they serve. It matches the new site design, and is easily maintained by the ministry.

I designed this website using WordPress, in order for it to be easily maintained without the knowledge of web design. It was also designed so that as more articles and resources are added, it will still be easy to navigate, and uncluttered.
